So, I'm considering starting either Warmachine or Hordes and I'm wondering if anyone here has tried either system (which I realize are both part of the same system)?
When Warmachine was first released I took a quick look at it but dismissed it because I found the minis to be of fairly poor quality and because I was wary of investing in a game system that I thought might go under in a few years. However, the game seems to be increasing in popularity and I recently watched a few games and have to retract my original assessment of the model quality. It seems that the newer models are much nicer, in general.

I've played WHFB for 10 years and am quite fond of my WE but I'm also frustrated by many of GW's policies, the chief offenders being unnacountably poor game balance (unnacountable from a game perspective, though obviously not their corperate financial one) and the unwillingness to offer more freqent and better quality FAQs. This does not necessarily mean that I am ready to get rid of my beloved WEs, but these are the main factors driving me to consider other game systems.

From what I have heard from other players, Privateer Press does a much better job at addressing these issues that are GWs shortcomings. Although Warmachine/Hordes is more of a skirmish game than a battle game, I'm not attatched to the full battle scale of Warhammer and I find the fluidity and emphasis on combos in WM/H appealing.

So, that's where I'm coming from. Have any Battlegladers tried the game and, if so, what did you think of it?

For others interested in WM/H v. WHFB, I've found the following threads pretty helpful.

Here are the Privateer Press forums.

And here's a WM/H wiki.

OK, thanks in advance for your thoughts or advice on a possible switch to/addition of WM/H to my tabletop gaming future.

The minis are very nice, the weapons look a little bit odd but aside from this i´ve seen some great looking armys.
I had the same issues about the "survivalchances" of new games, but after five years they are still growing...

This is where WM/H really shines. Mike Mc Vey (former GW) was a founding member of PP
and they try to avoid the GW mistakes.
The costumer support is outstanding, the game disigners answer directly to your questions in their forum and the rules are easy to understand and have a very great variety.
The gameworld is not static and things change really quick while absolutly no unit gets dropped.

It´s a totally different kind of game and if you love skirmishing games it´s just the best.
I love and play Warhammer and Hordes but Hordes get´s a lot more of my rare gaming time.
Try the Circle of Orboros, that´s the army for Woodyplayers
