I've been giving out the link to people over at Warseer who are posting Wood Elf topics and lists, and yesterday I stopped by the site and there were 6! unregistered users browsing. 6! Now we need more engagement from the registered users. I'd suggest Army list threads and battle reports, both of which can generate real tactics conversations without being forced. True tactics threads, on the other hand, seem to produce a lot of the same "bait and flank" answers that I think seem to hurt this site.

Also, if the articles haven't been restored, then the administrators should really get on that. Elbereth said he had them saved, they should be there for new people when they come by.

I think you have some good ideas there. A good battle report is always a good read. I think we need to show that new users who post will get a response and that there are other users posting that they in turn can respond to.
I agree that the articles really need some kind of place here. They were something that drew me here in the first place and were very useful.

Answering every tactics question with "just bait and flank" really makes Wood Elf tactics sound one dimensional, even when they're not.

Though that doesn't happen a lot, it is something that should be avoided.

I understand what you mean now. There are quite a lot of one dimensional standard answers that dont really need much thought to trot out when ever there's a newbie question. Not that baiting and flanking are useless in any way but just to say that is not very in depth. I think the articles could help for a standard response and more specific answers could come from the other members.

I too mis the old battle glade. But I've seen it go through major lulls before . . .hopefully we wont have to wait for another book to see action heat up.

I have some suggestions.

How about some activity suchs as an Arena of Death, or perhaps something Similar with simple rules more forest/WE oriented. . . Forest Stalker for shooty heroes or units. That usually gets people going.

ulthuan.net does a good job of being a HE site but attacting a wide range of players. I think we should not chase away people who want to post pictures of other armies, or discuss tactics. Perhaps even welcom Beast players so that we have a parallel army. It is the BATTLE glade after all. . . The beast book is coming out

In my opinion, We need to find a place in between Asrai.org and warseer. Asrai has had more people active, and will aways do so. People come here (or used to) for Tactics and a just a differnt crowd. Mach's activity goes up and down, as we all have reallity to deal with, but we need to find away of keeping people around without him pumping in tactics articles.

I don't really like the way the Forums are layed out in the main Page. I would like to see the Tactics forum at the very Top, followed by General Discussion than annoucements. The rest of the Forums would then be lower in a seperate frame. Show caseing tactics reinforces what the glade is really about.

How about a forest Clash contests. Create two threads, a WE list will be in assembled in each thread. After the two armies are created we can playout some table top battles verse using the same list (and drafting a local player). I know I could play out one of the battles (I have lots of WE . . .)

Making room on the Glade for non-WE discussion is something I've advocated for a long time. You know that, Ender. If you want to keep pushing for it, I'm with you, but I wouldn't expect the mods to be won over very easily.

I think having a list competition would be a great idea. But are we talking about straight rulebook composition or do you want to try "house rules" variants? Perhaps you and I should captain the teams. We start a thread in General Discussion where we let others pick their teams, then, once teams are established, we take it to the QMA for separate threads for each. It would be important in the GD thread to establish what themes will make each team unique form the other. Like a Wild Rider list VS a Wardancer list, or shooty VS combat or Forest Spirit VS mixed/Elf. Could be fun.

I also agree that the Board Index page needs a little work. I know Reddz did a good job, but I think forums are a little lazily presented. Most boards divide their indexes into categories like:

General's Tent
* Tactics
* QMA
* Battle Reports
* tactics articles (please, mods, get these back on the site)

General Discussion
* Wood Elf Discussion
* Painting and Modeling
* Halls of Loec

Beyond the Forest's Eaves
* Non-Wood Elf Warhammer discussions
* off topic
* Website discussions.

I think this would look more professional and help entice new comers and help them to find what their looking for. Not that the index can't do that now, I just think it looks a little thrown together.

That forum organization looks good to me. Although I wouldn't say "Lazily" just that we can refine it a bit.

I was getting excited about the list idea as well. How does Woodland Smack Down: Dragon Verse Ancient Sound?

So there would be one thread called: "Woodland Smack Down: team Dragon" and another called
"Woodland Smack Down: team ancient". The only requirnments would be that the Dragon list has to have a dragon, etc. Does that Sound like a good matchup?

What about Dragon VS Beastsweaver?
