Well, every so often I win a tournament and receive a battalion box. I have more Wood Elves than I will probably ever need, so I have decided to use my two Wood Elf Battalion boxes as prizes in two contests to help get the new Battle Glade started: one for tactical articles, and one for battle reports.

Here are the rules:

1) Tactical articles must be published in the General's Tent and battle reports must be published in the Glade of Woe to be considered.

2) To submit an article for consideration, please put "BGC" (for Battle Glade Contest) in the title. For example, "BGC: Use of Forest Spirits" or "BGC: Battle for Gray Wolf Pass."

3) The contests will run until February 28th, 2008.

4) There must be 12 entries in each category by that time, or the contest will be extended.

5) On March 1, 2008, I and a crack team of assistants will evaluate all of the submissions and pick the five top submissions in each category. We can be influenced in our evaluation, so if you like an article or report please post a reply to it talking about why you liked it so much.

6) The top five articles will be posted in early March. There will then be a week-long period in which Gladers may vote on their favorite article.

7) I know I don't need to say this, but if you are caught influencing the vote in your favor (multiple posts under different names, for example) your submission will be disqualified. Please play fair.

The winners will be announced after the week is up. The winners will then e-mail me their mailing address and I will ship them their Battalion Boxes.

Couple of questions -

Do the reports have to be WHFB v7, with Wood Elves as the protagonist? I have a number of Batreps I've written where I've been playing Beastmen, Khemri and Night Goblins AGAINST Wood Elves.

Is there a size limit? For example, I have a batrep for a game I played against a Wood Elf player using my Night Gobin Warband (250 pts) in the last Warbands campaign I played in. Good or no? Or must they be full 2000+ pt games of WHFB?

I could even pull out some WHFB V6 Batreps and knock the dust off if they would be acceptable.

Batreps have to be 7th edition; I think battle reports from other editions/previous army books would cause unnecessary confusion.

The Wood Elves don't have to be the protagonist . . . they just have to be involved! I think looking at a battle against Wood Elves from the opponent's perspective can offer some valuable insights for a Wood Elf general.

Warbands battle reports do not count. Most people play army-sized battles, so that is what we are trying to encourage with the contest. If you have the reports already written, I'd encourage you to post them! But to count for this contest the battles have to be of 1000pts (on each side) or above.
