Willowdark and I were discussing ways to bring a little excitement back to the glade and we come up with this.

FOREST SMACKDOWN !

Ok, so, the idea is two have two teams of people working on two seperte WE lists. Each team will have their own thread. Once the lists are set, then we will get people to play them against each other to see how they work out. (Mach if your listening, I could perhaps sneak something by the wife and get down to Oakland for a game . .. .). So each list would be based around a requirnement, a theme for a definitve WE list.

Such as : Terror Causers - Dragon Lord Vs Ancient,
LD9 Smach down - Mage Lord vs Alter Lord
Kindred Conflict - Wardancer Lord verse Wild Rider Lord
etc . . .

So what we need is a volunteer to spear head each thread.

So I for would like to start with the Ancient List verse the Dragon Lord, a tree test of forest icons. I am open to debate.

So .. Thoughts? Sugestions? Volunteers?

Note, teams will be able to look at each others thread, talk trash, get psyched out etc . . . we'll see how it goes

I'd like to see a Dragon versus a Spellweaver. Showdown of loveless lord choices! Also, I think the Spellweaver would be a better match against the Dragon because mobility becomes less of an issue

I'd be interested in a Glamourweave Spellsinger/Forest Spirit list vs a Dragon/mixed units list. I think that the Forest Spirit restriction would help to avoid the Lvl4/bowline obvious choice, while the mixed list would help the Dragon to maintain some semblance of an army with access to all the cheap unit choices.

Just my most immediate thoughts. I'd be more than willing to captain a team. I've been wanting to give a Spellweaver an honest try. But I'd still like to hear some more suggestions. The Wild Rider and the Wardancer are our best non-monster combat lords. I'd love to see how those armies would fare against each other, but I don't think we should try to make the actual units mutually exclusive.

And Ender, thanks for getting this off the ground. I loved the idea but I'm glad that I waited for you to initiate it. since it was your idea of course.

Its funny how different places have different types of lists. The Spell Weaver build is by far the most popular around here. With Daemons, VC, and Dark Elves. The ultra magic defense seams to be the way to go.
hmm I did want to see the ancient verse dragon battle though.

But if you want to build a spell weaver list that cool, Do you really want to face one themed verse a dragon? how about facing an Alter Lord list? I see a lot of Beasts Cowers cast on the spell weaver verse Dragon list. .. .

Hopefully we'll get some more suggestions. I'd be fine with the Ancient vs. Dragon, I just thought the mobility difference would be too extreme.

I still like Wardancer vs. Wild Rider as well. I'd like to hear some more thoughts though.

Really wish more people would jump in on this.

What about the Forest Spirit list? Or March of The Ents as I liked calling it, until I realise it needs some sort of elves in it. Treemen, Tree Kin, Dryads, a BSB and Wild Riders if you really wanna be flexible about it.

Well the treeman list could go all FS, its up to that leader I suppose. Who else wants to help build a couple lists? Come on you lurkers were not looking for expert tactics just a fun community project.

2000 or 2250 points?

I'd generally prefer 2250. That's at least where my comfort zone is. I'd even be interested in higher points values like 2500 or even something like 2999, 3000 points with only a single Lord slot.

But in general I'd rather stick with 2250. I find that gives you enough room to properly invest in characters without limiting your troop selections.

I'd like to put my hat in the ring as captain of either a Dragon or a Spellweaver team. I'd prefer Spellweaver since I've been putting a lot of thouht into using a Lvl4, Lvl2 and possibly 2 Branchwraiths.

But I think we should set a requirement of at least 2 people on each team before we take this to the QMA.
