I wouldn't take warhawk riders. That unit costs 160 points, and it's damage potential is minimal. I can see that you would use them for mage hunting, but you should be able to kill 1 mage with your glade riders, waywatchers and eagle rider. I would drop them and buy a unit of wardancers. I might also drop the waywatchers in favour of an eagle and a unit of glade riders.

The origional list looked was

Standard Alter
Branchwraith, Level 1, Cluster

10xGlade Guard, musician
10xGlade Guard, musician
5xGlade Riders, musician
8xDryads
8xDryads

6xWild Riders, Standard, Warbanner

6xWaywatchers

However, I was told that there was no need for a Branchwraith when I could have a warmachine hunting, mage hunting and annoyance unit, except that I know that there may be some magic heavy builds e.g. 3 level 2 dark elves with lots of shooting.

What would you do now as I fell I need more magic defence

Also I only have 5 glade riders

If you are going to face such heavy magic the 3 dispel dice are not going to do much for you. A lvl 1 scroll caddy would be much better. I would swap the branchwraith for a scroll caddy and otherwise take the list you posted. It's a solid list with effective close combat troops and it has a good ammount of missiles to weaken the foe. The only thing I'm missing is a unit of wardancers, but it would be almost impossible to squees it in.

The DE player is probably going to put his mages in RxB units so try to destroy one of those units of turn 1. With Hoda and 26 arrows you should be able to pull it of.
