So I made a list to fight against the new VC. I want to kill the vampire lord and the other hard elements like varghulfs and black coaches. I can't imagen that I could kill them with shooting or magic so I will have to do it in the close combat phase.

Alter highborn with light armour, shield, spirit sword, helm of the hunt and netlings 286p
Eglard Eglerath, lord of the house of Indelerion

Noble with light armour, battle standard, sword of might and stone of crystal mere 140p
Indelor of Aratyr

Spellsinger lvl2 with 2 dispel scrolls 175p
Nimbrethil

Spellsinger lvl2 with dispel scroll and calaingors stave 175p
Olo'r

10 Glade guard with musican 126p

10 Glade guard 120p

5 Glade riders with musican 129p

14 Eternal guard with full command 198p

8 Dryads 96p

8 Dryads 96p

6 Wild riders with full command and warbanner 217p

7 Wardancers with blade singer 140p

3 Treekin 195p

1 Treeman 285p

5 Way watchers 120p

The alter highborn will be able to kill lesser vampires with ease with his 6 auto wound attacks. He will also have a better WS than a vampire lord on the turn he charges and thus will hit on 3+. He should be able to kill a varghulf on the turn he charges, before the monster has a chance to attack back. Crain wraiths will die like flies. I think he should be able to destroy a black coach in one turn with a bit of luck.

The two main weaknessess are low magic defence and not excellent LD. Still I don't think that a spellsinger will be such a bad general, because most of my units are immune to fear. I should outnumber the VC player in units and I wil probably be able to get rid of his supporting units.

Any thoughts? Is the spirit sword a too big risk? Should my alter lord have a ward save and if he should how would I equipp him?

A late reply I am sorry. I expect you have played a few games now and have some fairly good ideas about what works. I'll add my ideas anyway in the hope that they can help some.

I have played VC against WE though not WE against VC. I was out manouvered heavily and crushed in CC. I would take lots of CC troops for the skeleton/ghoul blocks and fast cav and flyers.
Its trite and a real cliche for WEs but ....Flank with the WR and hit in the front with the wardancers. Win through massive casualties and try and get a couple of his units in comabt at once. This means he has to decide which unit he will add new troops to. I would take more wardancers and more dryads instead of the TK. Really go for density of attacks.
Vamps have pretty high leadership so I wouldnt go with the spirit sword. It could take care of the varghulf though if thats a worry. His black knights just shoot up. Waywatchers and Hoda and GG should be able to do this. Tree sing him in the forest when he goes all ethereal movement.
So lots of dryads and Wardancers and wildriders. I am not sure about the EG but I dont normally play them so its not based on experience with them.
