An alter high born with spirit sword is the only way that I have killed star dragons with WE. If you can get it fight your ancient you should win.
I once killed a star dragon with a unit of 20 night goblins. I charged into the flank and issued a challenge. My opponent got max over kill, but with my musican I won the combat by 1 and guess if my opponent failed the break test and run of the table edge.

Challenged with the champion, Took 5 wounds, but Made a couple ward saves and and tied combat (out number, banner + Warbanner) and he lost because of the musician, broke, fled, and was caught . . . made me very happy at the time

I used a Waywatcher threat to channel a Star Dragon into a Wardancer Highborn trap. Challenged with the Annoyance and KB'ed with the Blades of Loec, won combat because the dragon couldn't hit me and chased it down. Catching it was lucky, but the rest was just good design.
His 4 bolt throwers ate my army alive however, and an insane courage roll by one unit of Spears stopped a Wild Rider + dual alter charge dead in its tracts and ASF chewed me up over the next three rounds.
Pin-cushioned a Lion chariot with the HoDA too. That was a fun game of back and forth.
