In my mind, Athel Loren is the pinnacle of high fantasy in all of the old world.

There's pixies, walking trees, lesser fey (elves, who are still mostly in the tangible world), and spirits.
There's many fully or partial magical beings, and then there's Athel Loren itself, and it's components the trees.

In my imagination, the elves' power to pursuade the trees to grow as they please (that rhymes) is so great, that, for example a forest lord would need little more than a handwave to create a chair from a tree (as I also show in the RPG down in off topic).

What are your ideas on this? Do you go for more grit & personal labour? Even more high fantasy where the Asrai are fully integrated in the spirit world?

I'm curious...

To me the high elves is the most high fantasy race of the warhammer univere.

I see the WE as a very noble race, but their mastery over nature is not for everyone, and as such I would not say that a noble would with the wave of a hand produce a chair.

Rather, as old WHFRPG fluff say (in the Realms of Sorcery book where treesinging is described), it is only the treesingers (spellweavers) who are capable of forming the trees to do their bidding.

I also se the forest as a potentially malign presence (as presented in the WE novel 'whats-its-name-i-got-it-but-can't-remember') which the WE do not have perfect control over, especially in certain parts of the forest (for example the story about that special character Dryad 'what's-its-name' (Drycha?) who has essentially gone mad (or just very very angry at ANY 'invaders' of the forest including WE) so that even the WE fear her.

This is not a fulfulling describtion... but its some of my thoughts :-P

I would say that the forest tolerates/cooperates with the Elves out of mutual self-interest; they get a defender and the elves get a home. In this sense, Spellsingers ask nicely if the trees will please move for them.
On the other hand, some areas of the forest (Wildwoods) see the Elves as outright enemies, and seek to destroy them.
