How do you all paint blond hair? This is for painting a unit of white lions with blond hair. My attempts have come out too yellow and not very realistic looking.

Thanks.

What I do for blonde hair is:

Basecoat with a yellow and bone mix. I use Vallejo's Mate Yellow and Pale Sand, which are similar to Sunburst Yellow and Bleched Bone from GW. The mix is 60-40 or so.

Next, I give it a fairly diluted Flesh (Chestnut or Brown can work too) ink wash.

Finally, I give it a Yellow & Bone (around 50-50) mix drybrush.

Try it and see how it works for you, and use different proportions. I hope it works, but then I also hope that a more able painter will help you better :)

That is indeed a very good tip Elhann. Wasn't this topic here couple of months ago?

Oh well, try elhann's idea, or if you're lazy (like me), just do:
-Bleached bone
-Flesh wash
-If you think it appropriate, a drybrush bleached bone.

Gives you that arrogant elf feel we all strive for. ;)

For a more "corn silk" blonde, I use Bubonic Brown and then hit the tops with Skull White. Yeah, that's right, brown, but the Bubonic Brown is more yellow than brown.

A fast way to do it is bestial brown and then bubonic that reddz mentioned. Leave the recesses brown and highlight if you want. I'd mix white or bleached bone into the bubonic brown.
