Who should lead your army?
Yes, who should it be?
A Highborn, a Mage, or most ancient of Trees?

They all have their charms and their specialized uses
They even have their (dare I say it) abuses
But we still need to choose one
this softer, that harder
So let’s look at our options
Before we go farther

The Highborn is good
If you’re into fighting
He’s not too concerned
With a Black Dragon sighting

When it’s hitting on sixes
Along with its rider
The Dragon is not quite
such a fearsome fighter

And when hits are stopped
By the Stone from the Mere?
The Highborn wins combat
On that we’re quite clear

The Highborn’s best quality is that he’s fast
The Mage’s best quality is she can cast
With Calaingor’s Stave she can move lots of trees
her library of scrolls will dispel spells with ease

‘Cause our army, let’s face it, is messed up by magic
even small magic missiles’ results can be tragic
So it’s never a mistake; you’re not being dense
By investing your points into magic defense

But what about that ancient man of the trees?
Who can bring your opponent right down to his knees?
He’s big and he’s tough and he’s got strangle-roots
(although it’s a hot question if he stands and shoots)
He also has bound spells to move nearby woods
that can also hurt targets within them (and should!)

For drawbacks? The Ancient is Slow SLow SLOw SLOW!
Losing him to a Great Cannon is quite a blow
And although he has terror and is stubborn to boot
Combat resolution is not his strong suit

So for leading our army we have choices three
Any one of them can keep Athel Loren free
But there’s one piece of advice with which I must leave you
It’s a bit of your army design you MUST see too

Are you ready for this? Have you time to prepare?
Because there’s nothing with which this advice can compare!
So clear your head now, and make sure that you’re lucid:
If you don’t give your Lord the Annoyance? You’re stupid!
