It's been a little quiet around here, so I thought I'd try to fix that. I signed up here a while ago, and kind of forgot about it, but as you can see, that is no longer the case. So onto the stuff you care about I'm redoing my previously horrid army, so it is going to be in a forest fire, like the enemies lit the forest and the elfies are mad. There will be bits of already painted parts on models, but these are not the new ones. This is a sculpting blog, not a painting one, so don't expect ant painting. So there will be burnig trees, flaming arrows, that kind of stuff. I'm also making it so there more like what I think Wood Elves should be, so leaf dresses and bramble armor. I'm adding bowstrings and arrows, things that GW left out. My WIP Unit of Eternal Guard: The Champian, still a little work on the weapons arm, but mostly finished: Musicain: Standard: And the WIP movement tray: The unit will be 15 strong all said and done, with a small scene counting for 4 in the middle. As you might have guessed, its converted out of Glade Guard. If anybody wants, I can make a tutorial And my first Cthulhu-esc Dryad, inspired by this: http://www.coolminiornot.com/190448 And my first Wild Rider My first two Glade Guard, which I will remind you don't have the final scheme on: So this is my first update, with hopefully more to come. I have never been the most faithful blogger, but I'm really going to try and keep this one going. I've also never taken on a big project like this before, so I'm pretty stoked. Comments and feed back are welcome, thats what this blog is for

I think its a great and very original idea. Most themes seem to revolve around the seasons and this is something new. How did you do the bows with the arrows and strings? That looks like some detailed work there. Excellent!

Really great idea, I'd love to see you run with it. Are those supposed to be flames on the bases? I couldn't tell if the army was meant to be after the fire, or right in the middle of it.
It does look great though. I really like the wild rider and would love to see the whole unit.
You should post your list over at the QMA, that way we can help you throw around ideas once we know what your army will consist of.

Thanks for the comments, guys. In response to some things you've said... willowdark wrote: Really great idea, I'd love to see you run with it. Are those supposed to be flames on the bases? I couldn't tell if the army was meant to be after the fire, or right in the middle of it.

You should post your list over at the QMA, that way we can help you throw around ideas once we know what your army will consist of. There supposed to be in the very beginning of the fire, were mostly only the ground is burnt and not everything is lit on fire. The bases are largely unfinished, but any green stuff thats on there is fire. Some of its not to great, and I'll most likely replace it. I'm really focusing on the models at the momment, and will most likely base them before I paint them If you like the wild riders, your in luck. I really like doing them, and I'm trying to get the unit done soon. Them, and the dryads I usaully don't like posting lists on forums, for my own reasons, and since I'm not playing right now, I don't know... Mawpit wrote: I think its a great and very original idea. The bows are really easy. I simply drill a hole through the hand, and glue some thread in. When its dry, put some glue on one end of the bow. Pull the bow end in until it looks like it is bent, and the rap the extra thread around (make sure there is some). Repeat this on the other side once its dry. When your done, take a needle and clip off part of the area were the thread goes. Put it in the string and glue it on the hand and bow. There you go! I can get some pictures if you don't get what I'm saying. Thanks for the positive comments. Keep em coming And now for the update Second dryad: And my Wild Rider Champ, if I ever use one: He supposed to be on fire, dunno if it looks that way. Thanks

Wow that's just.... such a great idea! I like how you graphed the sword onto the Dryad, and the look of the WR charging through the fire is just, well, terrific.

Great them and conversions! I can't wait to see how they turn out. FYI some people are sticklers about fire (not me ), and its is frequently painted incorrectly (Like Heavy Metal Painters). Real fire goes from light to dark (white on object to yellow to Orange to red/black on tips). That's not to say it looks better either way to the casual observer. Are you going to go with traditionally Orangy fire? or somethem more exotic like a magical green tinged fire . ..

So I haven't posted any updates for a month, sorry about that, but I've been busy or lazy or both. That does not mean I've not been busy with the models, though. 7/8 dryads are done, my wild rider unit is done along with 5 glade guard. I thank you all for your comments and hope you will forgive me for my lack of updates. First, my finished Wild rider unit: Not a lot of pics on them, if you guys want any detail shots, I can take some. And my dryads Once the whole units done, I'll take some better shots. And my Glade Guard: So again, be as brutal as you can and give me some feedback!

Hey, thanks for all your comments, Ender No update, sorry. With school starting and stuff like that, I'm not able to do as much of my sculpting as I would like. Stuffs coming, though! But anyways, I've had another idea, and I want your opinion (not just Ender ). For some reason, I get an idea, get really excited about it, get half way through it, and come up with another one. So hear it is. Instead of fighting in the fire, it would be after it, and they would have been slightly demented by it. Coals on the base, little flame and burnt trees. I was thinking of also adding a little bit of savageness, like leaf loin cloths, bare chested and muscleur. Why change? With my current army, Ive been focusing on the more 'woody' aspect of them, but I think I've crossed the line and gone with the "they have no other resource'. Also, I rushed into the army, with out thinking or planning. My new Idea is much simpiler, cheaper, and may have more painting fun. Heres my ideas so far: Glade Guard: Bare chested and wearing only there skirts and cloaks. Continuing with the Flaming arrows... Scouts/waywatchers: Completely enveloped with cloaks and cowls, bow ends and other things poking out. Dryads: Much the same, maybe a unit being demented by the forest. Eternal guard: Scraping my current models, just using the regular models. Nothing really special Wild Riders: Much the same Wardancers: Trying to find a way to play with the poses on the metal models. Treekin: Maybe converted spawn. Warhawks: What got me started on the idea! The old glade rider horses, with strange heads, flaming manes and tails . Almost like flaming peguasus. Treeman: Maybe a converted Gaint (because I love the model and every bit that comes in it) or a converted GW forest. Great Eagle: Pheonix's! It's choasy, but I like that. So I'm not sold on the idea, but let me know what you think! Do you think its demented enough or to much?

So, I've taken no news to be good news and gone ahead with my idea. Finished some Waywatchers and my first 'Warhawk Rider', so tell me what you think Waywatcher champion, if I ever use one: And the other one, who will be in water affects when its all said and done, hopefully covering up the feet and his shortness: And close ups of the Dryads as promised: Theres going to be a lot more fire on there backs and maybe there swords, so there still WIP. And my latest project, a 'Warhawk Rider': and removable from the base: Let me know what you guys think, and any thought or suggestions. Especially the Warhawk, who I'm iffy on. Its really not a Warhawk, just a flying horse and reminds me of Santas Reindeer!

Honestly guys, tell me what you think! So, I'm taking advantage of the Thanksgiving weekend (the Canadian one, we do weird things up north) and am going to really try to get 5 Glade Guard Extended and on the base. But heres what I've managed to finish: My project for the last couple weeks, A unit of Glade Riders: All of them are pinned and are removable from the horses, for ease of transportation and painting: I still need to finish this one: Theres nothing really specail about them, but I figured I'd show them anyway. And heres what the dryads will look like when they're finished: I finished another Waywatcher as well: And I've come up with my basing scheme: The bases will be sprayed and painted, then covered with the new Citadel Burnt Grass. I'm going to scrap my idea of the Warhawks, and come up with a better and less chaosy idea.

Love the dryads as before. Would be great to see some paint on them. .
And not so into the Warhawks . . .Would be nice to get something biger. Can you add some sort of flamming wings to the horses? How about something more like the Native american thunder birds (angular with lightning strikes arcing down) . . . Phoenixs also come to mind, but you may be saving that for an eagle.

Ya, I now what you mean about the warhawks, I've decided to stop with them, it's a little to un-woodelfy. They didn't cost me anything, so it doesn't matter... I was saving the phoenix's for eagles, but they might look out of place, so I don't know... Any way, I've started (or re-started, I guess) my Glade Guard, I got five extended and on the base, I'll post some pictures when I'm done (hopefully this weekend). So, with several comments about painting and the fact that I want to start painting, I'm going to get some brushes and the paint I need to get started , so look out for it in the next little while. Also, does any one know the size of these models? http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... GameStyle=I'm hoping that these will make a better Warhawk. Oh, and does anyone know how to pst full sized pictures?

I think those eagles will be too small, I have seen people use those Warmaster dragons those as mounts (warhawks and even dragon princes), Those look great if you can "Fire" those babies up For full sized pictures I have a photobucket account. I upload the pictures there, and that page has the <img> code listed that you can cut and paste into your post.

So, been pretty busy with my models. My Green stuff ran out in the weak, but thankfully my new order of Kneadatite came in. Its the same as Green Stuff, but a lot cheaper for what you get. I paid $20 Canadian for this: And hears were you can get it: http://shop.ebay.ca/?_from=R40&_trksid= ... CategoriesSo I'm not runing out anytime soon! Any way, I'm doing test models for my models, and have stared my to first ever scratch builts, a Treeman and a Branchwriath. Pics: Treeman: And Branch Wraith: So I'm pretty excited about these guys. My goal is two have to units of 10 Glade Guard, two units of 5 Glade Riders, a unit of 5 Scouts/Waywatchers, 5 Wild Riders, 8 Dryads, a Branch Wraith and a Treeman done (including paint) by Christmas. I'm about half way there. I forgot to post some pictures of my Wild Riders, so I'll do that soon (hopefully). Anyway, I got some pics of 4 of the 5 Glade Guard (the other one is on my painting table): I'll get some better pics soon, as well. And my champion, who I didn't do anything to, except for the sh'mellow man (or inukshuk, as its supposed to be) on the base: Sorry for the long post, but you guys wanted full sized pics!
