I have an assignment in my Anthropology class to find someone belonging to a different culture or subculture and interview them, then write an ethnographic report. I had found a prime subject for this report, a teacher in my school who was an immigrant from India, but at the last minute she told me she wouldn't be able to do it.

I spoke to my professor and was given an extension, however, I am at a serious loss for interesting subjects in my area. I thought that since this is an international community that there might be someone here who would be willing to participate. Of course, even someone from a different region of the U.S. would be appreciated as well.

If anyone out there is interested, send me a PM and we can work out the details. I will need the person to email my instructor with a verification of consent, I will provide the address.

The interview should take about 30 to 45 minutes, and I would prefer to use some sort of instant messaging to facilitate it. This would be better for me rather than just sending you a list of questions. That way I can respond and react to you answers as they come up and revise my questions as we go.

I'm looking into other options, and of course, the clock is ticking, so it will have to be "first come, first served." But I'm hoping that this could be a good opportunity to find a subject worth studying, rather than settling for someone in my area who just likes a different sports team or is voting for McCain.

Thanks in advance for anyone who shows interest. It would be a big help.

Jeff.

Well, I would guess that "Rabid warhammer player" would be a "Sub-Culture", and you came to the right place to find members of THAT sub-culture.

When I first saw the title I was worried that you were wanting to do an anthropological study of Asrai....

Well, you make a good point. It occured to me that I should be more specific. For anyone who responds it would be important to be clear about what culture or sub-culture you would most likely identify yourself with.

Thanks again.

If you need a white guy from Texas, I'll help. I imagine you're looking for a bit more diversity than that though.

40 people have visited this site so far today, and several more in each of the last few. And G was the only one to respond? Well, its nothing new to have so many people visit and no one post, but I hoped to get a better response than this.

Thanks to G for offering himself, abeit timidly. :) For what its worth though, I settled for a McCain supporter. In the end, I think the report will still turn out pretty well, but I really wanted to learn about other cultures, particularly European. Its a shame that an opportunity didn't materialise, but them's the breaks.

Thanks anyway.

Just stumbled over this topic, since my interest is usually more Asrai related :P
Im from Germany, so if it is not too late and the interview is anonymous, I'm in!

Now let's be fair - you pretty much made it clear (at least to this reader) that you were looking for someone from another country/ culture other than America. There are plenty of Sub-Cultures amongst us Americas - I touched on "Warhammer Geeks", but I for one could be in for "Medieval Reinactors/ SCA", "Geocaching", "Warhammer players ", amongst other hobbies I participate in. Others that come to mind would be Online Game players (Unreal Tournament teams and league games come to mind), Magic the Gathering players, Amateur Auto Racing, just off the top of my head.

I for one was born in Chicago, my grandparents on my moms side are Czechoslovakian Immigrants and Native American, I'm a Yankee living in Atlanta GA, a Republican in a solidly Democratic county/ city, a Christian in a mostly secular/ non-Christian circle of friends, but I personally don't fit into your "From another country" group so why bother posting another "Nope, can't help you" note?

Glad to hear you found someone to interview.
