I've used an Alter Kindred noble a few times (same as most other Wood Elf generals) as a powerful missile character. I was tempted to try him out as a combat assassin v's cavalry units, monsters, chariots etc Has anybody tried this?

Do you think this is possible, or too risky?

This is the way i'm thinking of equipping him;

Lord Alter Kindred with;
amber pendant
helm of the hunt
annoyance of nettles

lvl 4 spellweaver and cast bears anger on him (i'll take a great weapon incase it doesn't work)

but if the spell is cast (casts on 4+) he has WS8, 9 attacks at str6, and ASF against anything. He could probably take out a cavalry unit

Fairly good vampire lord assassin, if you can combine a flank attack with his charge/challenge

or maybe try a noble version instead, not sure

Never tried that combo, though it sounds good. A popular alter lord buld has been the spirit sword alter. He is an excellent monster killer.

Alters with great weapons give wood elf armies some much needed strength 6 attacks, and I always use at least one of them.

I used a similiar set up in a tournament and slapped some Dragon Princes pretty hard on the flank

Didn't plan it that way - just an opportunity that presented itself. Works pretty good with a Branchwraith too
