I haven't been able to play for several months for various reasons, but the other day I was bored and drew up this list off the top of my head. It is a little 'conceptual', so I was wondering what other people would think.

The treekin would form a center to the battleline, with the dryads and wildriders on the flanks (although with their speed the WR could also get sent off on their own). The scouts I originaly put in there because I had 83pts left, by they do provide an escort for the BSB so he doesn't have to get worried about being pasted should he leave the GG, thus making it easier for him to provide re-rolls for the treekin+dryads. GG just stand there and shot the enemy.

Does this sound doable or is my brain atrophing from not having played since August?

Scouts have never really been worth it, IMO; way over-priced for too little; moreover, they won't protect the BSB well, since they'll get crushed in combat and may well got shot to death in a hurry; skirmishing won't help 'em *that* much. I've heard a lot of people use Wardancers as an effective hiding place for characters; I'd consider that path. That said, do you really think you NEED a BSB at 1k? Seems wasted to me, since he'll really only help the Treekin, who shouldn't have THAT much of a problem anyway..swapping him over to the Standard Alter (HotH/HoDA) would be ideal in my book; drop the Scouts for the points. Then you should have enough points left to throw in a few bodies for your combat units (if you have the models) or else to simply upgrade them (like giving Wild Riders the War Banner)


Just my .02, though

If I drop the scouts and the BSB for the Alter as you mentioned, I'd still have 65pts. Do you think it would be worth having an eagle at this points level or should I stick with upgrading the units? [edit: if I am asking this question, it has definatly been too long since my last game]

Eagles strike me as always worth it

That said, I like your new list. It's a bit less mobile then how I usually run, but it can pound out some shooting, and still has a strong combat element. I'd give 'er a whirl!
